Fussa City is located in western Tokyo, and the area is home to an annual sakura festival which has been running for 40 years now. The event takes place along the Tama River, where cherry trees line the banks for approximately two and a half kilometers.

On Saturdays and Sundays during the event there will be additional entertainment in the form of music and dance performances, plus food vendors selling yakitori, yakisoba, and other tasty festival foods.

There is no admission fee to enjoy the event, but bring yen if you plan on grabbing a bite to eat or drink.

Getting there

The event venue can be accessed in around 10 minutes on foot from Kumagawa Station (JR Itsukaichi Line), 20 minutes on foot from Ushihama Station (JR Ome Line), or 30 minutes on foot from Fussa Station (JR Ome Line).

For those who opt to drive, there will be several parking lots set up around the area, including at the Fussa Daigo Elementary School Playground, Tamagawa Central Park, and Fussa Minami Park.
