When it comes to comfort foods in Japan, one of the simplest is tamago gohan, or egg on rice. Here, though, it's done a little differently than in many other countries: the egg is raw. A three-day event taking place in Tokyo this October celebrates tamago gohan, and allows visitors to get their fill of the dish for the bargain price of ¥500. That's right – all you can eat egg on rice for a single coin.
Each day of the event will include four session times: 11:00 to 13:00, 13:15 to 15:15, 15:30 to 17:30, and 17:45 to 19:45. Numbered tickets will be provided 90 minutes before each session, and are limited to the first 250 people for each window.
The eggs at the event will be from all over Japan, so come along with an empty stomach and try a few different types!
Getting there
The Tamago Festival takes place at Sunshine City's Exhibition Hall A-1, which is under 10 minutes on foot from Ikebukuro Station.
