The World Trade Center Tokyo was built in 1970 and was Japan’s tallest skyscraper at 163m. It is primarily filled with offices, but the ground and top floors feature various restaurants, shops and an observation deck [CLOSED] on the 40th floor. It has a great view and you can see Tokyo Tower from its large windows. Hamamatsucho station is also connected to the building and allows easy access.

All of the waiters were men in black suits and bow ties, they were friendly and very formal, but did not seem to speak much English so I would recommend going with someone who speaks Japanese. The food and drinks were quite expensive and the portions were quite small but the main attraction here is the view. The waiter gave us some complimentary tea and we ordered our food, which took about 10 minutes to arrive. The menu has various seafood, chicken and beef dishes but not many options for other dietary preferences. Its signature dishes include seafood fried rice, which has scallops, shrimp, crab, squid and salmon served in a special sauce for 1550 yen.

The drink menu includes tea, coffee, soft drink and alcohol, but its speciality is Shaoxing rice wine, including those that have been aged for 10 or 20 years. You can reserve seats here and the view from the window is breathtaking, with Tokyo Tower as well as Tokyo Skytree on show in the distance. Further afield is Mt. Tsukuba and Mt. Fuji.

The restaurant itself does not have an English website, which means it relies on Japanese speaking customers but if you decide to go it’s on the 38th floor of the World Trade Centre. The main attraction for this small restaurant is not the food but the view. I would recommend this place if you want to go on a romantic date to impress someone.

If you want to see a panoramic 360 degree view of Tokyo then it may be a good idea to go to the observation platform on the top floor which is 620 yen to enter, but just 500 yen with this coupon [CLOSED].

The World Trade Center is also a 5-minute walk from Hotel Mystays and the area in general has a lot to offer.
