明治神宮の菖蒲田

６月の明治神宮御苑では、2300輪もの菖蒲の花を楽しむことができます。ここは江戸時代、加藤家や井伊家の大名下屋敷の庭園だったところです。明治維新以後は宮内省の所管となり、明治天皇の意向で、隔雲亭という茶屋や四阿が設けられ、池には菖蒲が植えられました。

雨上がりの朝、まだミルク色の靄が残る参道を歩いて菖蒲田に行きました。清々しい緑の匂いが、ふんわりと体の中に流れ込んできます。紫や紺の薄い花びらが、滴を溜めて静かに揺れていました。
