Shinnyo-do was founded in 984. It is a lovely, secluded temple that is quiet and serene, but in autumn when the foliage is in full color, it becomes very crowded. The temple buildings are constructed of beautiful old wood, and they are connected by a covered wooden walkway. There is also an old graveyard, some nice statuary, a three-story pagoda, and two interesting gardens where you can sit and meditate. I also found the temple to be perfect for B&W photos.
