Shinnyo-do, located in the Higashi-yama section of Kyoto, is a lovely, secluded temple that is quiet and serene. Because it is just a little bit of the beaten path, it's not very crowded most of the year. But watch out during the autumn season when people flock here to see the colorful foliage. It is also famous for its two unique gardens. Sit, stare out at them, and meditate to your heart's content. Part 1 Part 2
