In 2024, the festival's paid period started on April 17. There is no end date yet. However, the festival usually ends around early May. Please check the official site for details.
Perched on the top of a hill, overlooking a 'bowl' filled with azalea bushes, is an impressive Kannon, or Goddess of Mercy. The area that she stands watch over belongs to a temple bearing her name, Shiofune Kannon-ji, in Ome City, Tokyo. From the middle of April through early May, a festival held at this 1300 year old temple showcases 20,000 azaleas in full bloom.
