Tokyo's oldest temple, it's also one of the largest, Senso-ji in Asakusa is one of the main tourist attractions of Tokyo and rightly so. A trip here is good anytime of the year or day.
It's easy to get lost in the idea it's a place just for tourists, but look carefully past the hustle and bustle, the selfie sticks, the groups of yukata (summer kimono) wearing young ladies, people come here for the serious business of cleansing of the souls and wafting incense to bestow good luck and/or curative powers.
However, if you want the true taste of Senso-ji, go early before the shops open and before the tourists get out of bed.
