Lanterns have long been used in various cultures as a way of providing light, for warding off evil spirits, and for making wishes or prayers. The Senshu Beach Lantern Festival takes place in early summer, and over 1000 lanterns will decorate the waterfront alongside illuminated palm trees.
The event will also have music performances, a night market with a wide variety of handmade items, and several food trucks if you want to grab a bite to eat. Admission to the event itself is free, but there is the option to purchase a lantern to write your own wish on. Details on how to purchase a lantern can be found on the official ticketing site here.
Please note that the lantern launch for the 2023 event is set to take place at 8.30pm.
Getting there
The Senshu Beach Lantern Festival will take place at Osaka Sennan Rinku Park, which is located a 13-min walk from Tarui Station on the Nankai Main Line.
