Hina dolls are traditional figures displayed at many places across Japan during the lead-up to Hinamatsuri (Girls' Day), an event that celebrates the health and happiness of young girls. These dolls typically depict the Emperor and Empress, along with their court, and are set up on a tiered platform adorned with elaborate clothing and accessories.
One place to see Hina dolls in Niigata Prefecture is at the Tainai City Hinamatsuri, where Hina dolls that were once cherished in homes across the city are displayed in a new light. Conveniently, this is a double-venue event, taking place at both the Royal Tainai Park Hotel and the Nakajo Grand Hotel—so visitors to the area can check out one or both of the displays.

The Royal Tainai Park Hotel is located approximately 30 minutes driving time from Nakajo Station, which is served by the Uetsu Main Line.
The Nakajo Grand Hotel is located about 5 minutes by taxi (or 20 minutes on foot) from Nakajo Station.
