This lovely little guest house is located in an authentic local area around Kyoto Station. There are private tatami rooms and bathrooms, and is a comfortable yet cheap option for accommodation in Kyoto. Lovely staff and clean facilities make it a great option for people on a budget.

Costa Del Sol is either a 20 minute walk from Kyoto Station, or a 9 minute trip if you want to take the subway. I personally preferred walking there, as it was not really a long walk (you basically just keep walking straight and then turn left), you can save travel money, and you don't have to lug your suitcase up and down stairs in the train station! The entrance to the guest house is small and petite, and blends in with the neighbouring houses, so do keep an eye out for it. Google maps brought me safely there though, so there shouldn't be too many obstacles in finding it.

As a solo traveler, I was provided with my own tatami bedroom, a futon and blankets,a pillow and a towel. The room comes equipped with heater, hairdryer and your own bathroom and toilet with shampoo and body wash provided. The room was very spacious for one person, and I loved having plenty of space to sort out my luggage. There was a little table for you to place your things on, and it was great to have two electronic ports for use - one next to the head of your futon, and one next to the table. There was also a mirror on the wall to check that you're looking great.

The building is old, so don't expect absolutely stellar facilities. However, everything was kept very clean, so the stay was still very comfortable. My personal notes to those who choose to stay here: be careful of the steep steps up and down, especially when you are carrying big luggage. Also, since the building is old, when other people use their showers or toilets, you will hear the sounds of running water through the walls. It's nothing big but it's always good to be prepared, because when I first heard it I thought there was a huge rainstorm outside!

This guest house is simple and humble, providing a nice place for you to shower and sleep. The room is locked with a key that you carry with you, so you have a peace of mind about security. Overall, Kyoto Costa Del Sol is a sweet little guest house that provides the basic necessities in a comfortable way and at an affordable price.
