Only in its fourth year, the Tour de Sanriku is quickly turning into one of the most popular cycling events in North Eastern Japan. An area known in Japan as Tohoku.

Prior the the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake, there was an annual cycling race in Rikuzentakata, in 2012 the city decided to restart the event but with a different objective, this is now a charity event. It now attracts over one thousand cyclists for the two day event. In 2013 and 2014 Greg Lemond, 3 times Tour de France champion, participated to help the city recover from the natural disaster. The event is open to cyclists of all ages and levels. Come and join the fun.
