Spring's arrival in Japan comes step by step, and those steps are often marked by the blooming of certain flowers. One example is camellias – they bloom from late winter into spring here, ushering in the new season with their beauty.
The Spring Camellia Exhibition at Fukuoka's Kurume City World Camellia Museum is held in line with the area's peak blooming period, and the event includes around 80 types of cut and potted camellias to admire. In addition, there will be Hina dolls on display in honor of Girls' Day which falls on March 3rd each year.
Admission to the exhibition is free, but do note that the venue will be closed on Thursday, March 21 during the event period if you plan on stopping by.
Getting there
The Kurume City World Camellia Museum is located approximately 15 minutes driving time from Kurume IC on the Kyushu Expressway. A limited amount of on-site parking is available.
