Watermelons in Japan are more than just a delicious fruit – they're a sign of summer, and their refreshing taste helps combat against the hottest time of the year. For fans of watermelon-flavored treats, Starbucks Japan will be releasing a new Gaburi Watermelon Frappuccino from August 9th until the end of the month, and it's bound to be incredibly popular.
Part of the frappuccino's appeal is in its presentation – it has been designed to *look* like a watermelon does, with a green layer made of kiwi pulp at the bottom to emulate the rind, and the vivid pinky-red of the watermelon "flesh" comprising a trio of watermelon, dragon fruit, and passionfruit juices. It's all finished off with whipped cream and a sprinkling of salt infused with watermelon juice, which is said to enhance the sweetness of the drink even more.

The frappuccino comes in tall size only, and it's priced at 690 yen for in-store orders and 678 yen if you get it to-go. Keep in mind that while the sales period is set to run until August 31st, it's a strictly while stocks last situation – so get in early if it's a must-try for you.
