Yamaguchi's Tokiwa Park covers a space of around 100 hectares, and on the grounds there are approximately 3500 cherry trees to enjoy. They come in several varieties, too, including Somei Yoshino, Yaezakura, Mamezakura, and Kawazuzakura. During the blooming season a cherry blossom festival is held to celebrate the beauty of spring, and it also includes evening illuminations so visitors can enjoy the blooms after dark.

The park has been listed on Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom viewing spots, and typically the best time to plan a visit is from the late March to mid April period.

Admission to the park is free of charge.

Getting there

Tokiwa Park is located just 4 minutes by taxi (or around 20 minutes on foot) from the JR Tokiwa Station, served by the Ube Line.

For those who plan to drive, the park is around 35 minutes from the Ogori IC on the Chugoku Expressway, or around 30 minutes from the Yamaguchi Minami IC on the Sanyo Expressway.
