Overview

Situated in the northeastern corner of the Tama region, Tokyo's Kodaira City is a bedroom community well supported with public spaces including the substantial Kodaira Central Park. The city also features a number of interesting museums and galleries, including the Kodaira Furusato Village, one of Tokyo's most fascinating open air museums, and a gallery dedicated to master wood sculptor, the late Hirakushi Denchu.

Shosenji Temple

Very much a local temple, Shosenji Temple was established in the 17th century. Along with its beautifully maintained garden that includes traditional landscaping elements like ponds, stones, statues and moss, the temple's two-storied entrance gate, its two nio guardians and bell tower are definite points of interest.
