Rengetsu is a cozy yet cutting-edge cafe located in the quaint “temple town” of Ikegami. Once a soba noodle shop for pilgrims of Ikegami Honmonji Temple, this 83-year-old Japanese house was lovingly renovated for its old charm.

The wooden two-story house features a lofty dining space on the first floor bedecked with antique furniture and an array of interesting trinkets. The cafe’s menu is equally eclectic featuring specialty lunch sets, barista-worthy coffee, and delightful desserts-like the Hojicha (roasted green tea) Pudding.

Whether you decide to come solo or in a group, Rengetsu is a splendid café to sit and settle down for wholesome treats with a nostalgic touch.

Getting there

Eight minute walk from Ikegami station.
