Latest on National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo

The National Museum of Modern Art Tokyo, also know by the English acronym MOMAT, is located within walking distance of Akihabara and a stone's throw away from the northern walls of the Imperial Palace. The closest subway station is Takebashi (T08) on the Tozai line, Exit 1B. Although only open between 10:00 and 17:00 and closed on Mondays, I was lucky to visit on a Friday, when the main collection hours were extended to 20:00. The museum specializes in showing the history of modern art in Japan and is known for its collection of 20th century art and includes Western-style and Nihonga artists.
