The Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology (JAMSTEC) leads the world in deep-sea surveys, and celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. In honor of this, the National Museum of Nature and Science will host an exhibition exploring the challenges and developments the agency has seen over the last half-century.

Visitors can learn about the history of oceanographic surveys in Japan, explore research vessels and deep-sea survey equipment, and discover the scientific results obtained from surveys that have been conducted.

Reservations are required for this event, which can be organized via the official museum website. Adult admission is priced at 630 yen.

The National Museum of Nature and Science is located approximately four minutes on foot from Ueno Station’s park exit.
