Fans of Studio Ghibli are in for a rare treat this summer as the Ghibli 3D Sculpture Exhibition returns to Tokyo for the first time in over two decades. Running from May 27th to September 23rd, 2025, the event will take place at Warehouse Terrada's B&C Hall in Shinagawa.
This immersive exhibition traces the global journey of Ghibli films, showcasing the efforts of individuals who helped bring works like Howl’s Moving Castle and Princess Mononoke to international audiences. Through intricate three-dimensional sculptures, visitors can experience iconic scenes from beloved films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, and Whisper of the Heart in an entirely new way.
A standout highlight is the life-sized Savoia S-21 flying boat from Porco Rosso, designed by special effects expert Hiroshi Ihara with the idea that it could exist in the real world. Set against the canals of Tennoz, the display evokes the fictional Piccolo Company from the film, creating a whimsical yet realistic atmosphere.
Adding to the experience is a special screening of Fantasy Flying Machines, a six-minute short directed by Hayao Miyazaki that explores humanity's fascination with flight. Visitors can also enjoy the return of the “ham ramen” dish, previously popular at a past Ghibli event, served at the nearby T-LOTUS M water facility.
Tickets must be reserved in advance for a specific date and time, and they are available through Lawson Ticket and NTV Zero Ticket. Special combo packages with the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka and hotel accommodations like Petals Tokyo are also available.
