Just minutes from Ebisu Station, Gapao Shokudo is a nice choice for good-tasting Thai food in a modern, comfortable atmosphere.
The food at Gapao Shokudo is delicious. The ingredients seem very high quality and there are a lot of different spices being used, which results in a lot of rich, fantastic dishes. They don't seem to skimp on the portions, either.
The lunch menu is quite limited with only about 5 choices, none being anything you won't find at any other Thai restaurant, but all being very tasty. Choose from classics like green curry, khao man gai, massaman curry, gapao, and tom yum. One nice benefit about the limited menu is that, with fewer choices to prepare, the food gets served extremely quickly, which is a big plus for businesspeople without much time on their lunch break.
The dinner menu is much more expansive, and is available online here. The menu is written all in Japanese, however, so those who can't read the language might struggle a bit. There is a decent selection of alcohols as well, including some Thai beer and liquors.
The prices are just a bit higher than average, but very much in the range of most Thai restaurants in Tokyo.
The interior of the restaurant is modern and comfortable. There's a counter for solo diners and plenty of tables. Big windows keep it well-lit, and there is a separate smoking room in the back. The restaurant has a bit of a tropic theme and is decorated with palm leaves, while the bar and kitchen area looks a bit like a tiki hut. This would be a nice place to go either with friends or on a date.
This restaurant in Ebisu is Gapao Shokudo's second location. Their original shop is located between Shibuya and Omotesando Stations.
Gapao Shokudo is located in the Shibuya Ward of Tokyo. It is a 3 minute walk from Ebisu Station (JR Yamanote, Shonan-Shinjuku and Saikyo Lines, Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line), and is located directly across the street from another excellent Thai Restaurant that has a very different style, Green Pad Thai.
