Awa Odori is one of the most famous bon dance festivals held in August in Tokushima. Over 1.3 million visitors come to see this dance festival every summer. Even in the off season, this Awa Dance can be enjoyed throughout the year at Awa Odori Kaikan. The Awa Odori Kaikan is within easy access of JR Tokushima station.
The first floor is an information center and shoping area. We can get travel information and local food and products here.
The second floor is the highlight of the building: Awa Odori Exhibition Hall. In this hall, we can see Awa Odori and join the dancers on stage. Don’t worry, a dancer will teach you how to dance. It is easy to dance Awa Odori. A famous poem says: “If you raise your hands and move your foot, That’s the Awa Dance!” Please try dancing the Awa Odori and enjoy!
After enjoying the stage performance, you can learn about the history of Awa Odori in the museum on the 3F.
