Twenty minutes' walk or so from Atami station, Bai-En Park is a wonderful place for a relaxing stroll around or an unhurried al fresco lunch. Its paths wind though lush greenery alongside a gentle stream spanned by a number of charming bridges, and there are plenty of shady spots to sit and rest. It also features a Korean Garden and is home to the small, free Nakayama Shimpei Museum and the delightful Sawada Seiko Memorial Museum. Go there in early spring for the plum blossom festival, or in for when the red autumn foliage is illuminated for visitors to enjoy after dark.
