The stunning landscape has over 469 plum trees spanning 60 varieties, and some trees are over 100 years old! Although it is famous for its plum blossoms, the garden shines year-round, offering pleasing greenery in spring and summer and vibrant autumn foliage.

Hashiriyu Hot Spring
Discovered around 1,300 years ago, Hashiriyu Hot Spring is one of Japan’s three oldest hot springs and is known for its rare horizontal tunnel-style source type. The hot spring earned its name Hashiriyu, which translates to “running hot spring,” since the water rushes down the mountainside toward the sea. Every minute, approximately 170 liters of 70°C water pours from the 5-meter-deep cave, creating a steamy, mystical sight.

Standing 43 meters tall and 160 meters above sea level, Atami Castle offers one of the area’s best panoramic views, with its top floor boasting 360-degree visuals of the city, coastline, and mountains beyond.
