Looking for a fun and refreshing way to beat the summer heat? Head to Saitama’s Keyaki Hiroba this July for the Keyaki Hiroba Water Splash Festival. This high-energy, family-friendly celebration draws inspiration from Southeast Asia’s traditional water festivals like Songkran, and invites everyone from kids to adults to cool off by splashing water and dancing in the summer sun.

This year’s edition brings an upgraded stage layout, new water features like water guns and water shots, and an even bigger entertainment lineup. One of the main highlights is the Water-throwing DJ Time, where guest DJs such as DJ Dainoj, DJ Ishige and Nobu, and DJ Kazu turn up the energy while the crowd gets soaked. On Saturday, July 26th, the fan-favorite K-pop Random Dance returns, giving visitors a chance to join in spontaneous dance performances set to popular Korean music.

For a more laid-back experience, cooling shaded areas are available by reservation. These spaces come with tables, chairs, and lanterns at night, letting you relax and enjoy the festival in comfort.

Beyond the water fun, there are plenty of food and drink options to keep you going throughout the day. More than 17 food stalls will be serving up summer favorites, alongside five local craft beer brewers well known from the Keyaki Hiroba Beer Festival. From mazesoba and unadon to strawberry tanghulu and icy cold pints, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The best part of all is that admission is free, but do bring some yen if you plan on purchasing food or drinks.

Getting there

The event takes place at Keyaki Square at the Saitama New Urban Center, which is located just three minutes on foot from JR Saitama-Shintoshin Station.
