From 10am until 8.30pm, visitors can enjoy a wide range of lakeside and water activities in a relaxed, welcoming setting. Try kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) on the calm waters of Lake Okutsu, a perfect spot for beginners. Licensed instructors will be available to help, and sessions are affordably priced at 1,000 JPY per person.

There are also plenty of other ways to enjoy the day. Step aboard a patrol boat for a rare cruise around the lake, test ride electric kick scooters, or join a bamboo lantern-making workshop in the afternoon for a small fee of 500 JPY. After sunset, light your handmade lantern and soak in the quiet beauty of the evening.

Later on, take part in a stargazing event. With little light pollution and a higher elevation, the skies above Kagamino are ideal for spotting shooting stars and viewing the Milky Way. Telescopes and live commentary will be provided to enhance the experience.

The festival will also feature an appearance by Mizurin, the town’s water fairy mascot, along with seasonal menu items at the Mizunosato Lake Okutsu Visitor Center. Special dishes include Kagami's six-dish set meal and Kagamino tomato hayashi rice.

No reservations are needed. Simply show up and sign up for activities on the day. However, keep in mind that participation is limited, so an early arrival is recommended.

Getting there

Lake Okutsu is located approximately 15 minutes from Innosho IC on the Chugoku Expressway. On-site parking is available for over 150 vehicles. For those visiting via public transport, take the bus bound for Okutsu Onsen from JR Tsuyama Station for about 35 minutes. Get off at the Kuda stop, and the lake's general information center is two minutes away on foot.
