Sapporo Station is the main train station for Hokkaido’s capital city. It is a central travel hub for many travelers to Hokkaido, thanks to being 40-minutes by train from Hokkaido’s main airport at New Chitose. By 2031, the Hokkaido Shinkansen line will be extended from its current Hakodate terminus, making train travel from Tokyo possible (information as of March 2022).
