Cherry blossoms are a prime attraction for tourists and locals alike in Japan, but for many parts of the country, seeing them bloom in January is a statistical impossibility. That's not the case in Okinawa, though! The Nago Cherry Blossom Festival is held annually on the last Saturday and Sunday of January, and gives visitors the chance to enjoy the splendor of the iconic blooms in all their glory.
The blossoms are the star attraction, but there are also stage performances and food booths at the event.
Getting there
The Nago Cherry Blossom Festival takes place at the Nago Central Park.
By Car:
Nago Central Park is located approximately fifteen minutes drive from the Kyoda Interchange on the Okinawa Expressway.
By Public Transportation:
From the Naha Bus Terminal, take either the number 77 or number 120 bus bound for Nago. Alight at the Nago Gusuku Iriguchi stop, and the park is approximately ten minutes on foot from there.
