Hoshinoya Okinawa is a luxury resort hotel in Yomitan. The Hoshinoya brand is famous in Japan for creating unique accommodation experiences and this hotel is one of a kind. Surrounded by stone walls that resemble those of the island's old castles, the hotel grounds feel simultaneously protected from yet integrated with the nearby ocean and neighboring fields of Yomitan Village. Guests stay in individual villas, which all have stunning views of the East China Sea and outdoor patios to enjoy the breeze. Every room has a large dining table, a microwave oven to prepare food, refrigerator/freezer and coffee/tea equipment. The decor is minimalist and modern with Okinawan art flourishes. The flora and fauna of the grounds include hermit crabs and a beautiful kaleidoscope of tropical flowers. Despite the expansive grounds, privacy and peace are a prerogative and there is very little noise heard either in the villas or even around the pool.
The hotel amenities are excellent and include daily refreshments including complimentary tea and cookies in the guest lounge. Hotel staff can shuttle visitors across the grounds if necessary. There are several restaurants including the casual Banta Cafe, which serves light fare and drinks and has a viewing deck out onto the beach and stairs down to the rocky beach. More formal restaurants include the Olu Grill and Bellezza, an Italian restaurant. There is also in-room dining including a variety of breakfast choices. One can also choose in-room dining with the ability to finish cooking meals in the oven. There is also a meditation room where guests can experience bukubuku (frothed Okinawan tea) tea daily. The infinity pool has been voted as one of the most impressive in Japan and there is a direct view of the ocean from its waters. There are seats and platforms in the water for those who prefer lounging rather than swimming. On-site activities include morning horse riding, Ryukyu dance shows, a wellness program, a Blue Cave snorkeling tour, a Ryukyu karate class and more. One can experience a great deal of Okinawan activities without leaving the grounds. Alternatively, the location of the resort in the middle of the island makes it an ideal home base to take day trips to Northeast Okinawa (Motobu, Nago, or Yambaru Park) or Southwest to Naha.
Hoshinoya Okinawa is located in Yomitan Village close to Cape Zanpa Lighthouse. It is about an hour drive from Naha Airport.
