Latest on Nijo Castle

Nijo-jo Castle has many magnificent details that will surprise you. Not really a castle at all, but the home of all Tokugawa Shoguns whenever they visited Kyoto from Edo (Tokyo), it is sophisticated and rich in color and detail. Started in 1601, and completed 25 years later, this beautiful monument to the magnificence of what Kyoto once was is truly amazing. Beginning at the Main Gate, and continuing with the Entrance to the Main Residence, the quality of workmanship can be stunning.
