<p>When the sun shines, these leaves light up and start shining in unison</p>

<p>Shuheki-en Garden: yellow and green contrast brilliantly</p>

<p>Each leaf of the maple trees is as lovely as a baby's hand!</p>

<p>The color of the autumn leaves of Sanzen-in is mostly vermilion</p>

<p>At Yusei-en Garden, autumn leaves fall like dancing fire sparks</p>

<p>I forgot about time and looked at these beautiful leaves for a long time from the Guest Hall</p>

<p>The cedar tree grove in Yusei-en Garden has brilliant company this time of the year</p>

Ohara Sanzen-in is a landmark of Ohara, Kyoto. As one of the most iconic temples in Kyoto, it is very popular. I thought it would be less crowded on weekdays but I was totally wrong!

Ohara is located deep in the mountains, the most north-eastern ward from the center of Kyoto city. Even then, people from all over Japan, and also from overseas, come all the way here to see this temple.

So, you'd better brace yourself for the crowd if you are planning to visit. I usually try to avoid crowds, but I couldn't resist the temptation and visited here again in late November two years ago.

On this visit, I appreciated the beautiful autumn leaves in Shuheki-en Garden and around Ojo Gokuraku-in, which is the symbol of Ohara Sanzen-in.
