Autumn at Daigo Temple

World Heritage Site basking in the autumn sunshine

<p>Turtles sunning themselves on the banks of the pond</p>

<p>A beautiful gold and white koi in the pond</p>

<p>Intricate roof ornament against a clear blue sky</p>

<p>Ornate metal plates protect the wood from invading insects</p>

<p>The temple doors are weathered, but still beautiful</p>

<p>The oldest pagoda in Kyoto towering over yellow foliage</p>

<p>The closed red gate arouses my curiosity</p>

<p>Stickers pasted onto the gate by pilgrims visiting the temple</p>

<p>Daigo temple has many cherry trees  </p>

I already did a photo story about Daigo Temple in the snow, but I want to share photos that show how lovely it also is in autumn. Autumn foliage glows pond, echoing the red of Bentendo and the bridge. Yellow afternoon light illuminates the yellow leaves on the trees around the pagoda. During the middle of the week there were few other visitors, so the atmosphere was calm and relaxing.
