Port city Yokohama holds a few fireworks festivals each year. But the most gorgeous and lively one takes place near Rinko Park in mid summer. In it, Japan’s top fireworks artists show off their latest masterpieces. And on that night, young girls usually dress up and show off their lovely yukata (summer kimono)…and that is another attraction! A lot of food stalls line the streets, restaurants sell special take-out food boxes to bring to the fireworks, and ice-cold cans of beer are sold everywhere. An index of this series is here.
