About Koga

The city of Koga is tucked in Ibaraki prefecture’s south-western corner, surrounded by cities of other prefectures. Its current population is estimated to be 140,800.

An hour by train from Tokyo, Koga is known for its temples and rich history, with many old streets and buildings left untouched. You can tour the city with a bicycle rented at Koga Station’s tourist information center. Along with the site of the former Koga Castle, the Takamisenseki Museum and Koga Town Museum are some of the city’s attractions.

Koga is also known for its shichifuku curry noodles. It is served as a combination of a curry-flavored soup with buckwheat noodles.
