The mysterious big torri gate and the majestic shrine buildings floating in the sea...that is THE Itsukushima Shrine.
The sublime vermilion shrine was changed into gold during this dramatic sunset. The dazzling sight of it blinded me!
This shrine, which is commonly known as the Island of Gods, exceeded its reputation. When the tide was low, there were many tourists underneath the big torii gate, but as the tide gets higher, families and couples are dipping their bare legs into the water. What a lovely sight!
When I looked again, the big torii gate was already standing in the sea, and beneath it there was a road on the sea in a golden hue. It truly looked like a pathway to the divine shrine! (Photos were taken at the end of July, 2014)
