It is at high tide that Itsukushima Shrine on Miyajima resembles a floating house of worship. The water surrounds the orange shrine buildings, as well as the world famous and iconic torii gate standing in the middle of the bay. It was late November that I was there, and the weather was still warm and delightful. Tourist from all over the world were there with me, enjoying this holy island.
