The Uminaka Candle Night event has become a much-loved winter tradition in Fukuoka, and it involves the help of local citizens in lining up around 10,000 candles to create a magical, festive display. This year's theme is Kaleidoscope of Light - Everyone's Happy Christmas, which was chosen from over 160 submissions!
Please note that the candle light-up takes place on the weekend of December 16th and 17th, and the following weekend on December 23rd and 24th – there will be no illuminations on the weekdays in between.
This is a paid event, with admission priced at 290 JPY for adults, 210 JPY for those over 65, and free for junior high school students and younger.
