With a history dating back to 1958, the Towada City Summer Fireworks Festival is a fixture on the Aomori events calendar in mid-August each year. The city is known as an arts and culture hub, and alongside the 2000 or so fireworks to be launched, the festival will also include a wide array of food booths and street artworks for visitors to explore.
For those who can't make the event in person, the fireworks will be live-streamed on the city's official YouTube channel here. Please note that in the case of inclement weather, the fireworks will be postponed until either the 15th or 17th of August.
Getting there
The festival takes place on the west side of Towada Athletic Stadium, along the Kanchogai-Dori Pedestrian Precinct. Parking – both free and paid – is available around the event area, and more information (including map locations) can be found on the official event site.
