The Aomori Nebuta Festival is an annual event which takes place in early August, and the festival showcases some incredibly designed floats which are paraded around the city streets for onlookers to enjoy. If you can't plan your Aomori trip to coincide with the festival dates, never fear - a visit to the Aomori Nebuta Wa Rasse Museum gives you the opportunity to see the floats up close.
The floats are made using wood, wire, and paper, and you really do get an understanding of how much work goes into making them at the museum. There are also dance exhibitions and the opportunity to try your hand at taiko drumming, to get you into the festival spirit.
The museum's operating hours differ slightly depending on the season, so be sure to check their website before you visit.
