The Sugawa Plateau Hot Springs where you can dip your feet right into the hot spring water coming from a surface spring or you can take a dip in the public baths.

The Kurikoma and Sugawa Plateau region of Akita is home to a wonderful spot to relax. Nestled in the foot hills of Mt. Kurikoma, you can find the Kurikoma Sanso, Oyasu Gorge and Sugawa Plateau. Located in the southeast part of Akita Prefecture, this area is a monument to the natural beauty of Akita.

Approximately a 70 minute drive from Yuzawa City and 140 minute drive from Akita City along National Route 398, this area host to wide variety of onsen, lakes, and viewing areas to go to relax and enjoy the scenery. Particularly wonderful is the turning of the leaves in autumn, when you can witness the beautiful colors that seemingly spring out of the mountain side.

If it is relaxing at the onsen at Kurikoma Sanso, walking the deep gorge at Oyasu-kyo, or taking a row boat out on Lake Sukawa; this region of Akita is the place for you.
