A trip to Tottori is not complete without visiting Daisen-ji temple which is over 1,300 years old and a remnant of the Shugendo religion.
Before visiting the temple I had the opportunity to stay at a local restaurant and try Buddhist traditional vegetarian dishes and drinks. They were delicious and incredibly filling, after lunch I was ready to visit the temple and then walk on the 700 meters natural stone pathway to Ogamiyama shrine.
It is a magnificent shrine that is surrounded by nature and has an aura of health, peacefulness, and happiness. After paying my respects at the temple and visiting the shrine I went back down to the base of mount Daisen, and went to the famous Daisen milk farm.
The farm is very famous for its milk and soft cream ice cream and is open to visitors throughout the year. I bought some souvenirs from the gift shop and I tried the amazing pure milk soft cream.
This area is great for visitors especially if they want to experience traditional food and also want to relax in the incredibly serene atmosphere of mount Daisen.
