The Tokyo Metropolitan Teien Art Museum in Minato Ward is presenting Timeless Art Deco with Van Cleef & Arpels this September, with the exhibition celebrating the artistry and legacy of the renowned French Maison. It's set to highlight Van Cleef & Arpels' contributions to the Art Deco movement, showcasing how the house's high jewelry embodies the elegance and innovation of the 1920s and 1930s.

Founded in 1906 by Alfred Van Cleef and Estelle Arpels, the Maison quickly gained international acclaim for its poetic designs and technical mastery. This exhibition marks the 100th anniversary of the 1925 International Exposition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, where Van Cleef & Arpels earned Grand Prix awards for several entries, including the iconic Intertwined Flowers, Red and White Rose Bracelet (1924).

Visitors will encounter around 250 pieces drawn from the Patrimony Collection and private lenders, including jewelry, watches, and decorative crafts, alongside approximately 60 archival documents. The main building highlights Art Deco creations from the 1910s to 1930s, while the new building explores the Maison's enduring artisanal techniques.

Housed in the former residence of Prince Asaka, the museum itself reflects Art Deco architecture, with interiors designed by Henri Rapin and contributions from renowned artists like René Lalique. The setting allows visitors to immerse themselves in the era's aesthetic while discovering the Maison's influence on modern high jewelry.
