Originating over 400 years ago, the annual Setagaya Boroichi sees almost 700 vendors fill the street selling all manner of food, arts and crafts and other items – including perhaps the occasional fabric scrap or used clothing (or 'boro', which lends this event its name).
Visitors can also try a popular snack sold only at the fair – the daikon mochi rice cake. The event attracts tens of thousands of visitors each year to the streets surrounding the Setagaya Daikan Yashiki, making it one of Setagaya's biggest annual events.
The event is also hosted each December.
