Take a brief moment to look around before you go through the ticket gate and head off to your destination; the train station may very well be a destination of its own. At the heart of every global city lies a central station whose train tracks serve as the city’s blood vessels – Grand Central in New York and Paddington in London. Tokyo Station is certainly no exception. Inside the station, bullet trains as well as metros run tirelessly through an intricately interwoven railroad – a great feat of modern Japanese engineering. However, the outside of the station remains timeless as it boasts its red brick structure representative of the Meiji Period of more than 100 years ago. It is a station where the past meets modernity.
