Move over Akihabara, Shibuya might be the new Mecca for Nintendo gaming fans. Japan’s first-ever Nintendo store is landing in Shibuya PARCO on November 22nd. While most people might equate PARCO with fashion, it’s time to make a new association: Nintendo. So, get ready for a gaming adventure in the real world with your favorite iconic characters.
Shibuya PARCO is located just 5 minutes from the Hachiko Exit of Shibuya Station past the Shibuya Crossing. Once you're there, head up to the 6th floor to discover a whole floor devoted to anime, games, and character goods. But, of course, the main course of this gaming paradise is Nintendo TOKYO. While New York has been enjoying being home to the world’s only Nintendo flagship shop the time has come to share the spotlight. There’s no better place to set up than in the heart of Tokyo and never-ending action.
A treat for the eyes
Shoppers are in for a treat when they arrive at the decorated storefront. Famous Nintendo characters parade around the clear glass walls; from heroes to villains, just looking at the store is a treat. But if you’ve made it this far, you’re more interested in what’s inside. Well, you won’t be disappointed. Nintendo TOKYO is divided into sections for each of its popular franchises: Splatoon, Animal Crossing, Zelda, and of course, the heroic plumber himself, Mario! And each of the statues of these characters has been crafted with no detail spared. There’s even chainmail under Link’s tunic.
Going from each game title’s merchandise corner is exciting as there is some never before seen merch waiting for you at Nintendo TOKYO. This merchandise isn’t just exclusive to this Shibuya location, it’s also all high-quality and well-priced. You’ll even find some collaboration shirts, bags, pillows, and other items with 8-bit-style Pokémon and Mario characters.
Ready, set, go!
But what’s sure to be one of the main attractions of the store are the demo corners. There are several Nintendo Switch stations set up for free gaming on new Nintendo titles. Play for a bit and get a feel for the game before you commit to purchasing it at the game title wall. While it wasn’t an exhaustive wall of Nintendo titles, all the big names were on board. There’s even staff on hand to direct you through trying the new Ring Fit Adventure; a game that fits the Switch controller inside a flexible hoop and allows the gamer to exercise in a variety of mini-games and challenges.

After you’ve finished gaming and buying your fill on Nintendo swag explore the rest of the 6th floor for even more anime, manga, and gaming surprises. You can find the Capcom store with a fantastic Monster Hunter display; a Digimon corner, Shonen Jump Shop for all your manga needs, and the Shibuya-exclusive Pokémon Center with a life-size Mewtwo guarding the entrance—you’ll find even more exclusive Nintendo/Pokémon merchandise inside. One thing is for sure, you will need a whole day for your Nintendo Tokyo visit!
