MOMIJI AQUARIUM by NAKED 2026

Bringing autumn to the aquarium

Kim Bergström   - 3 min read

Autumn takes on an underwater twist at Maxell Aqua Park Shinagawa this year, with the return of the popular MOMIJI AQUARIUM by NAKED event. Running from September 12 through November 8, the seasonal experience combines projection art, lighting and marine life to create an immersive take on Japanese autumn.

The theme for this year's event is “an autumn journey through a vividly colored underwater world.” Visitors can experience changing autumn scenes throughout the aquarium, beginning at the entrance with “Mai Momiji no Monogatari,” where fish and autumn-inspired scenery set the mood for the experience.

The immersive “Momiji no Suitou” area has been enhanced with new visual effects, transforming from a deep autumn garden into a shimmering waterscape where maple leaves appear to float across the water. The displays are complemented by marine life whose shapes and colors evoke autumn leaves and other seasonal imagery.

At “Shusai no Minori,” the focus shifts to the rich flavors and harvests of autumn, with artwork inspired by seasonal fruits and foods accompanying the aquarium's inhabitants.

Visitors can also stop at “Akane Chaya,” a cafe bar serving seasonal drinks and sweets, while the nighttime dolphin performance, “Gekka Momiji,” combines the animals' performance with autumn-themed lighting and visuals.
