The Ondagawa flows through Machida City, and during most of the year it is a quiet shady place to enjoy the river paths, but I don't find it all that attractive. However 400 cherry trees planted along 2 kilometers of the river transform this place into a pale pink heaven as they bloom in spring. Local people and visitors alike are drawn into the enchantment as they wander along the paths in the spring sunshine. There are only a few places to spread picnic mats, but if you prefer a strolling hanami, it's perfect!
