Japan has no shortage of unique activities to try, from dressing up as a samurai to racing go-karts through the city. Now, visitors can add another experience to the list: climbing aboard a giant robot and stepping into the world of Japanese sci-fi.
THE ROBOT PARK ODAIBA opened on October 15, 2026, at Aqua City Odaiba in Tokyo, bringing hands-on robot adventures to one of the city's popular entertainment districts. Inspired by Japan's love of robotics and futuristic anime, this compact attraction packs four different experiences into a neon-lit, cyberpunk setting.
The main draw is ROBOT RIDE, where visitors can pilot Skeletonics, a roughly three-meter-tall wearable robot. Rather than controlling a virtual character on a screen, you move your own arms and legs to operate its mechanical structure, making it possible to perform actions such as swinging a sword or throwing a ball.
Feeling competitive? ROBOT FIGHT lets participants wear specialized robotic equipment and battle opponents in a ring. Sensors register hits, health points decrease in real time, and special moves add a video-game-style twist. Participants must be at least seven years old and 110 centimeters tall for these battles.
There are other ways to get involved, too. Cyber KASSEN puts a high-tech spin on traditional sword fighting, using soft swords and sensors to register hits. Meanwhile, a hands-on workshop lets visitors assemble their own robot models using aluminum components and tools, with kits available to take home.
The attraction welcomes children as young as three for selected activities, making it an option for families travelling with younger kids. Visitors can choose 30-, 60-, or 90-minute passes, starting at 2,000 JPY, and advance reservations are not required, although waiting times may apply.
For anyone who has ever imagined piloting a giant robot, this is a chance to trade the anime screen for the real thing.
