Summer always brings interesting drink specials and campaigns, but Ginza Nabura has taken it to the next level. For a limited time Nabura has imported over a ton of sand into the top floor of its multi-level Izakaya. Already a popular night spot in Ginza, this is certain to make Nabura one of the must visit bars in Tokyo this Summer. Guests are welcome to wear swimsuits and shoes are optional so kick off your shoes and enjoy the sand between your toes.
Nabura follows a BBQ style theme where each table has a charcoal style grill for cooking your own food. Before you get started, it is important to note that there is all-you-can-eat curry and rice near the entrance (a good starter) and an endless supply of frozen beverages for you to enjoy. The drinks are perfect for Summer as you can get below freezing (-2 degrees Celsius) beer on tap or frozen highballs served in freezer stored glasses. All you can drink is recommended as you can serve yourself anytime direct from the taps. If you go with the BBQ course meal you will have a few starters including sashimi set and vegetables while you wait for your BBQ set to arrive. The BBQ sets include primarily seafood options consisting of clams, oysters, shrimp, squid and whitefish. Beef and barbecue sauce and vegetable options are also available.
Nabura Ginza has four floors, but only the top floor area is designed with the beach theme. The decorations are well done and include trees, sand, rocky areas and palm leaves. The staff is attired in Hawaiian style clothes and straw hats and sandals are freely available on entering. An open window area and beach style bar area add to the feel and there is a great selection of beach music to top it off. There is certainly no requirement to wear a swimsuit, however, and many of the guests come from work dressed in business attire.
If you find yourself trapped in central Tokyo this Summer, and need an evening barbecuing on the beach this is the place for you. Ginza Nabura is located between Ginza and Shimbashi stations, about a three minute walk from both.
