Located within Ueno Station, the Atré Ueno complex could be described as the epitome of a convenient shopping experience. The venue is home to a variety of stores and restaurants, making it easy to indulge in a little retail therapy or grab a bite to eat before or after your train ride.

Over 60 businesses fill the multi-story complex, including the likes of L'Occitane (beauty and skincare), JINS (optical), Nail Quick (manicures and pedicures), and Meishodo (books). There are too many fashion retailers to list, a branch of the Seijo Ishii supermarket chain, and plenty more.

If you work up an appetite after your shopping expedition, there are numerous Japanese and Western dining options available. A branch of the Hard Rock Cafe, Brasserie L’écrin (French cuisine), Mango Tree Cafe (Thai cuisine), and Ichiran ramen are just a few of the options to tempt your taste buds with.

Along with the myriad of shopping and dining options available, there are also a number of services which are ultra handy for travelers to Japan. One of them is the free Wi-Fi available throughout the venue, which can be accessed in 60 minute increments -- however, you can reconnect as many times as you need to. There is also a currency exchange facility on the second floor, coin lockers if you need a place to store your stuff, and even discounts at certain stores on presentation of your passport (do note you need to have been in Japan for less than 6 months for these discounts).

As for the store payment methods, all major credit cards are accepted including Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express.

Getting there

Atré Ueno is located within Ueno Station which is served by various lines including the Tokyo Metro Ginza and Hibiya Lines, the JR Yamanote Line, and several shinkansen lines.
